One month into the Married at First Sight experiment and the couples should be celebrating. Instead, for Alissa, it feels like anything but a milestone moment.
The 33-year-old nurse is left reeling after discovering that several of her fellow brides have been exchanging what she describes as “disgusting” messages about her in a private group chat – with what she believes is the clear intention of taking her down.

“The receipts in this chat were just utterly disgusting,” Alissa tells TV WEEK. “It’s language that I would never use in a message, let alone speak the words. It’s the foulest, most vicious behaviour I’ve ever seen in Married at First Sight history.”
From the moment this season began, rumours have been swirling about a so-called “mean girl” clique forming behind the scenes. Unfortunately for Alissa, she found herself on the receiving end of it.
“The mean-girl behaviour really started at the red flag–green flag challenge,” she explains. “Sides were taken. I was really concerned.”
At this week’s Dinner Party, Gia approaches Alissa with an apology and some – not all – of the screenshots that reveal just how far the messages went.
The involvement of one bride in particular leaves Alissa stunned.
“I was gutted. It broke my heart,” she recalls. “She was trying to bring out anything she could that she thought she knew about me to try and bring me down, which was really disgusting.”
The fallout shakes Alissa to her core, and she admits she even considered walking away from the experiment altogether. But her disappointment wasn’t just directed at the women.
“If David spoke to another man the way that the girls were speaking to me, I would say, ‘Why are you speaking to someone like that?’” she declares. “You pull each other up. These guys just let their wives run ratchet. They didn’t say anything; they were silent.”
Will the women apologise – or is the damage already done?
