As The Block drama heats up, all eyes may be turning towards the friction between the teams as the lack of sleep and stress of the competition ramps up. But insiders have told Woman’s Day there’s some underlying tension behind the scenes and it’s not from who you’d expect.

An eagle-eyed insider has pointed out that The Block host Scotty Cam isn’t chummy with everyone on the show, with a rumoured rift between Scott and Marty Fox heating up. The final clincher? Scotty doesn’t even follow Marty Fox on social media!

Even more telling? Scotty does follow the other judges, making Marty’s conspicuous absence from his following list look less like an Instagram oversight and more like a very deliberate digital cold shoulder.

‘Not going to fake a bromance’

“Scotty isn’t fake,” tells our source. “If he doesn’t like you, he doesn’t like you and he isn’t going to pretend to just for kicks.”

And that unfollowed-following situation? Well, our source reckons it speaks volumes.

“The fact he hasn’t followed Marty back is further proof he isn’t Marty’s biggest fan and he obviously doesn’t want to be mates.”

In fact, there’s a chance Marty isn’t just missing from Scotty’s following list – he could be permanently parked in Scotty’s ‘Suggested to Add” pile. “Let’s be honest, Marty’s probably been sitting in Scotty’s ‘Add’ list for a while now,” jokes our source.

While the two smile for the cameras, our source says that’s where the friendship ends.

“Scotty’s not the kind of bloke who’s going to put on a friendship for the cameras. He’s pretty straight down the line. If he genuinely gets along with someone, you’ll know about it. And if he doesn’t, he’s not going to suddenly start calling them his mate just because they work together,” the insider reveals.

‘Scotty will absolutely be professional’

If viewers think any tension will play out on screen on this season of The Block though, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

“Scotty will absolutely be professional, have a laugh and get on with the job. but he’s not going to fake a bromance just to make everyone else comfortable,” our source says. “He’s been around long enough to know the difference between being friendly and actually being friends.”

While the pair are happy to work together, they’re unlikely to be grabbing a McCafe coffee any time soon!

“They can absolutely work together, but being mates is a whole other story. There’s a difference between sharing a judging panel and sharing a group chat,” the insider continues. “They’re not exactly rushing to grab a coffee together once the cameras stop rolling. Let’s just say the boys aren’t on each other’s Christmas card lists.”
