Tayla is known for her high energy on The Block, but this week her carefree attitude is mistaken for laziness. According to the personal trainer, however, she was simply “bringing the entertainment”.

“When the camera shows me dancing or having fun, it’s during moments when I am waiting for my car, or the cameras are being set up,” Tayla, 32, tells TV WEEK.

“Those moments are literally me during a waiting period when there’s nothing else that I could possibly do. Do people just want me to be unhappy?”

But, behind the fun, Tayla finds herself in tears when things get tough and her builder dad Rick, 63, has to take on all the plastering, painting and carpentry himself. When she offers to help, he shuts her down.

“That’s one of only three times that I’ve ever cried,” Tayla admits.

For Rick, who has long struggled to accept help, taking on the workload himself is nothing new.

“Being thick-headed, I try to do too much myself,” Rick says. “Knowing quite well how big our landscaping bill was going to be, I didn’t feel the need to put on an extra pair of hands.”

After failing to finish their Main Bathroom, can the father–daughter duo turn things around and secure some much-needed cash flow for Landscaping Week?

You can tune into The Block on Nine and 9Now.
