The Block 2025 contestant Mat Johnson visits the site this week to lend some crucial advice, but Wyatt isn’t interested, opting instead for gym time and an early bed.

Speaking with TV WEEK, hairdresser Mat doesn’t hold back on what he really thinks of the personal trainer.

“He was so disrespectful. He said he was bored. We are making a TV show. I couldn’t believe the arrogance and disrespect to the producers, lighting crew, sound crew – all these people in the background, working late at night to give this guy the opportunity to be on Australia’s biggest TV show.”

Mat was also unimpressed by Wyatt’s response when questioned about his reluctance to engage with the group.

“He weaponises his size by standing over people and puffing up his chest,” Mat says. “By looking down on them with such disdain. I’ve dealt with bullies in my life and I was not about to be intimidated by him.”

Wyatt, however, hits back, saying he also felt attacked by the visiting guest and was misunderstood.

“He was really rude,” Wyatt says. “He tried to say that Chantel and I were not allowed to go to the gym, but it’s okay to go to the pub and drink. If I don’t do some form of exercise, it makes my diabetes and blood sugar 10 times harder to regulate. We just wind down in different ways to others.”

So what does Mat think of Wyatt’s aspirations to an acting career, which he reveals this week as his motivation for joining the show?

“He is like two dead sticks,” Mat says. “Even if they were set on fire, he would not be interesting to watch.”

The Block airs Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 7pm on the Nine Network and 9Now.
