I’m A Celebrity is moving to Channel Seven in 2027 and with one host, Robert Irwin, already signed on for Australian Ninja Warrior, the question left wondering is: what about Julia Morris?
The iconic Australian comedian and actress has been with the reality show since the first season, but Seven has not yet confirmed who will be stepping into the hosting shoes for the rebooted series.
It was officially announced in July that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! would move from Network 10 to Channel Seven for the 2027 season.
Dr Chris Brown quit the series in 2023 to move to Channel Seven, which has fans wondering whether the original host could be brought back together with longtime friend Julia Morris.
And now, the Gold Logie nominee has weighed in — and sadly, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up.
On Tuesday morning, Julia filled in for Fifi Box on Fifi, Fev and Nick, where she spoke freely about whether she would move to Channel Seven to host the show again. Brendan Fevola asked if she had been ‘approached’ to host the reboot, and she confirmed she hadn’t, joking, “I haven’t been approached since 1973.”
Julia went on to suggest she’s likely hanging up her I’m A Celebrity hosting hat.
“Do you know what? It needs a new life,” she continued. “There are a lot of very, very talented people at Seven. I’m looking forward to seeing one of them try. There are lots of women who have now risen and become established. Now, I want to see our young women coming through because there’s some great female stand-ups out on the circuit,” she said.
“I think that’ll be exciting to see some fresh blood come through — if that’s what’s going to happen, I don’t know.”
But just as Fev was assuring Julia that the ‘new blood’ won’t match up to her hosting talents, she added: “They can’t afford me! No judgement.”
This throwaway line suggests the budget of Channel Seven’s version could have been trimmed down. That said, Julia did allude to being open to returning under the right conditions. “Do not get me wrong. I’d go in a heartbeat, right?” she said.
Who will be the hosts of I’m A Celebrity on Channel Seven?
Channel Seven has confirmed it has picked up the reality franchise after Network 10 dropped it, promising “fresh energy and ambition” for its new era. Seven is yet to announce who will host its 2027 reboot of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! but the series isn’t short on options.
The most obvious contender is Dr Chris Brown, who hosted I’m A Celebrity alongside Julia Morris from 2015 until 2023 before defecting to Seven. The handsome vet is firmly embedded in Seven’s talent pool as he currently fronts My Reno Rules, making a jungle comeback an easy fit.
Seven could look to other established network personalities such as The Voice’s Sonia Kruger, Australia’s Idol’s Scott Tweedie, or even The Morning Show’s Kylie Gillies or Larry Emdur for a fresh combination of new hosts.
Julia Morris could potentially return, but Robert Irwin is out of the mix after signing on to host Australian Ninja Warrior for Channel Ten in 2027.
