Amidst the devastation of the Australian bushfires, there has been one local hero who has made international headlines for her incredible fundraising efforts.
Actor, writer and comedian Celeste Barber has been raising money for the Trustee for NSW Rural Fire Service & Brigades Donations Fund, with the amount already surpassing $40 million.
The hashtag #CelesteforPM has even picked up traction, as Celeste’s fundraising efforts as an individual have far surpassed that of the Australian government and Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Celebrities including Pia Miller, Laura Byrne and Angie Kent have all shared their support for Celeste, but she is no stranger to using social media for good.

The 37-year-old mum-of-two, and stepmother her husband’s two children from a previous relationship, has become a household name thanks to her hilarious Instagram posts parodying those unattainable and glamorous celebrity poses and bodies we always see in our feeds, with the hashtag #celestechallengeaccepted.
Not only does she boast over six million Instagram followers, but she’s become something of a body positivity and feminist icon.
“Cutting through bulls— is part of my humour,” she told Stylist. “My intention first and foremost was to make people laugh. I never started it to be part of any body positive movement, but I’m pretty happy to be caught up in that.”
