Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have reportedly decided it’s time for their much-delayed and much-wanted new baby – and this time they’re going to adopt!

The loved-up couple, who relished every moment of lockdown together with daughters Sunday, 13, and Faith, 10, are rebooting their plans to adopt their final and third child together, in what friends say will be “deeply personal journey” for Nicole, 54.

“This will be Nicole’s third time through the adoption process, and for her it’s the most magical, exciting experience,” says a family friend.

“What’s even more amazing this time around is she’s crazy in love with her husband and they have two amazing girls who are just as excited as she is about having a little brother or sister.”

The actress, who is busy promoting Being The Ricardos in the US, where it premieres on December 10, has never shied away from her dreams of adding to her brood, telling reporters in 2011 “never say never”.

However, sources say it took some time to convince Keith, 54.

“If you ask Keith, he’d be like, ‘No,'” she revealed in 2011. “My sister’s got five kids. He’s like, ‘You’re not gonna be your sister, are you?'”

The family insider says, “We all knew it was only a matter of time before Keith would relent, and they were trying for a baby for years, with no luck.”

The actress, who has struggled with her own fertility issues and losses, admitted in a 2014 radio interview with KIIS 1065, “I hope every month I am pregnant but I never am.

“I would be jumping for joy, but it won’t happen. I’m 47. [But] my grandmother had her last baby at 49, so you never know.”

Thankfully, Nicole has left that heartbreak behind and is now looking forward to the incredible excitement of the adoption process.

“She and Keith have been working hard this year, but after lockdown it’s made them realise what’s important,” adds the insider.

“They’ve wanted to do this for a long time but life, pandemics and work all got in the way. This year they’re scheduling their commitments around some serious family time.

“The paperwork’s all done and with the state of the world right now, they expect it won’t take the usual long wait. The whole family is tripping over themselves with excitement!”
