It looks like Kate Middleton has a mini sporting protégé on her hands!
According to a new report, 11-year-old Princess Charlotte has quietly become a bit of a netball star – and has moved up into a competitive squad.
A royal source tells Woman’s Day that Charlotte has been playing for the past few years, after her mum first encouraged her to give it a go.
“Charlotte absolutely loves netball,” the insider tells Woman’s Day. “She’s been playing since Year 3 and yes, it’s her mum’s encouragement that convinced her to give it a go. And she’s a natural.”

Charlotte has apparently settled into the position of Goal Attack, though she can cover multiple positions across the court. “Her favourite position is Goal Attack, of course, and she’s very good at it, but she can play Centre and Goal Keeper too,” the insider says.
Under the goalpost is reportedly where she does her best work. “They like her in the goal – she rarely misses,” the source adds, putting some of that down to regular practice at home with Kate. “She and her mum still practice shooting goals at home – and Kate’s a formidable defender so she’s finely honed Charlotte’s skills.”
That home coaching has apparently paid off, with Charlotte now playing for a more competitive team that travels for matches.
At the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the entire Wales family were spotted watching Australia take on Jamaica and England play New Zealand, with Charlotte enthralled by the matches.

According to the insider, Charlotte’s parents are regulars at her games.
“Kate and William are so proud of her. [Kate] is her number one cheerleader – she rarely misses a match,” the source says.
When Kate can’t make it, there’s said to be a good reason – and when she does turn up, it’s kept low-key. “If she’s not there – with a discreet security team – it’s for a very good reason, but Charlotte loves playing netball just as much as her mum did.”
The source also adds that Charlotte’s popularity with teammates isn’t down to her royal title: “She’s very popular on that team and not because of who she is but because she truly is a talented player.”
That matches earlier reports that William and Kate handle match days like any other parents – they drive her to games and set up chairs on the sidelines.

Netball runs in the family, with Kate having played for an under-11s team at St Andrew’s School in 1992, and she has stayed close to the sport ever since.
At a 2023 SportsAid appearance, she told England netball player Ama Agbeze she’d been helping Charlotte with her shooting technique.
