While Yana is running towards her ex, Jotham is desperately trying to avoid his. Being stuck in the Love Island villa with Gabby has tested the NFL player more than he expected, especially as his connection with bombshell Jaide is growing stronger by the day.
“It’s so hard trying to tiptoe around,” Jotham, 22, tells TV WEEK.
“I wanted to be respectful to Gabby. She and I might not have been on the best terms, but she was someone I still cared for a lot. I didn’t want to make her upset.”
But the tension between the pair didn’t just simmer – it often boiled over. According to Jotham, multiple confrontations with Gabby pushed him to his emotional limit.
“I’ve never been one to raise my voice or act out of anger,” he says. “It was new to me in the villa, being in so many confrontational spots.
“There was a moment that didn’t actually make it on air after one of mine and Gabby’s arguments. I just woke up real flat. And I thought, I can’t keep doing this.”
Despite the pressure, Jotham stayed, and he’s grateful that he did, because he met Jaide.
“We just clicked,” he says, smiling.
“We work so well on a personality level. It was so shocking!”
