From reports of things getting ‘heated’ with King Charles, to rumours that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are working on a Diana documentary much to the chagrin of Prince William, the couple have steadily dominated headlines since their August return.

And now it’s Harry and Meghan’s children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, being affected with reports the couple had to pull their kids out of the school they had been enrolled in due to security fears.

A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess told HELLO! that the decision should not be interpreted as a reflection of the school in question.

“The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” the spokesman said.

“The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family. This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”

A source went on to tell the publication that the family had to make a “difficult decision” based on the fact that “the team couldn’t make the school run operationally secure.”

“It’s a real shame, because they absolutely adored the school, the kids and their parents,” the source said.

Security woes have been following the Sussexes’ back since Harry’s first return to the UK in July.

As Woman’s Day reported at the time,  a confidential security assessment prepared by a private US security company hired by Harry and Meghan has painted an alarming picture of the risks facing the prince, alleging multiple credible threats against his safety, with the majority of them reportedly originating in Britain.

The document states that Prince Harry faces six terrorist plots against him, with five originating within the UK and one threat specifically calling for Harry’s assassination.

Alongside the terror plots, the Metropolitan Police records indicate awareness of nearly 500 potential stalkers targeting the Royal Family, with hundreds of those having demonstrated threats against Harry, Meghan, and their children Archie and Lilibet.

Despite initial theories that King Charles and Prince Harry had not been in contact since Harry’s return to the UK, Woman’s Day exclusively revealed last week that Charles and Harry had been having weekly phone calls- but their civil chats quickly turned sour once the King’s letter reaffirming his son’s non-royal status was made public.

“Harry and Charles were in direct contact when they first arrived in the UK, but not anymore. Now their communication is back to going through one of his advisors after the last call became somewhat heated,” a royal insider says.

“Their phone calls had been on a weekly basis and were nothing more than a typical exchange of pleasantries about the kids, their schooling and various logistics around seeing them. But since the Sussex statement, Charles is not engaging with Harry directly until ‘cooler heads prevail’.”

The news of the school move and new security fears comes just after Meghan was granted her first government-backed security review since 2020.

Meghan and Harry have been asked by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) to provide details of their daily routines, including the school run, to evaluate any changes to the threats they face.

As for where Harry and Charles currently stand, things are still up in the air.

“Charles is getting tired of the eternal fuss over every move Harry and Meghan make and it constantly impacting the entire Royal Family. He can’t understand why Harry continues to push for conflict – he and Meghan see insults when there are none,” a royal source said.
