They’re everyone’s favourite couch critics, ratings gold and Logie winners – and it seems the Gogglebox cast know exactly what they’re worth.

With rumours they’re paid per household, some cast members are reportedly questioning whether the money matches what they deliver.

How much do Gogglebox stars actually get paid?

It’s rumoured the cast are paid around $1,200 per household for each day of filming, but the pay structure has been murky for years. Speaking on breakfast radio with Fifi, Fev and Byron back in 2019, former Goggleboxer Yvie Jones lifted the lid on a few behind-the-scenes secrets from the hit show.

When it came to payment, Yvie revealed there’s no “talent fee” because cast members aren’t technically employed.

“The house gets a location fee and that has to be whoever owns the house gets a fee,” she said. “Our landlord would get the fee and would have to forward it to us if she wanted to. It would be happening in all the rentals. Everyone on Gogglebox is doing it for the love [of it]. It’s the same on reality TV shows like MAFS, they get nothing.”

Even the celebrity cast haven’t cashed in big. In 2022, when Hamish Blake and wife Zoë Foster Blake appeared on the show’s celebrity spin-off, Hamish revealed their fee on the Kyle & Jackie O Show.

“[We were paid] $5000. Five, zero, zero, zero,” he said. “Everyone gets the same thing. There was never any discussion of money.”

What’s being said about the Gogglebox pay

Due to the modest fees, insiders say there’s growing frustration simmering below the surface.

“Of course, they’d never want to rock the boat with the network or producers – they know how lucky they are to be on the show,” a source tells Woman’s Day. “But behind closed doors and in group chats, there’s definitely a feeling they’re underpaid.”

Another insider insists the cast isn’t chasing a lavish payday, just fairer compensation.

“They’re not asking for private jets – just a little more recognition in the pay packet!” the insider says. “After all, they’re giving Australia couch commentary gold every week.”

Woman’s Day has reached out to Network Ten for comment.
