They might make a convincing show of being great mates, but behind the scenes, whispers suggest the relationship between Richard and Ronan has hit a seriously frosty patch.

The pair have shared more than a few heated exchanges on this season — and, according to insiders, the tension hasn’t always disappeared once the cameras stopped rolling.

“Richard and Ronan are definitely mates, but they’re both pretty stubborn,” claims our onset spy. “If they disagree, neither is exactly rushing to be the first one to apologise.”

And it seems one particular clash may have pushed things a little too far.

Viewers watched as Ronan took aim at Richard’s well-known habit of dropping celebrity names — but while it may have been intended as harmless banter, Richard reportedly wasn’t laughing.

“Richard didn’t really see the funny side,” claims the source. “He also isn’t one to mince his words. If he’s p***ed at you, he’ll tell you — and Ronan certainly copped it when the cameras stopped rolling.”

According to the insider, there were moments when the usually friendly pair found themselves giving each other the cold shoulder.

“There were times when the atmosphere was a little frosty after filming, even though they make out like everything is fine,” the source goes on.

End of a bromance?

While neither star appears keen to publicly admit there’s any bad blood, their fiery exchanges have certainly fuelled speculation that the bromance isn’t quite as bulletproof as it once seemed – and rumours have been swirling for months that this may be the last season for Richard Marx.

Of course, television friendships can be complicated – especially when two strong personalities are thrown together under the pressure of filming, judging performances and being constantly watched.

But with both Richard and Ronan apparently refusing to back down, will this season of The Voice end on a sour note?

For now, both men are keeping up appearances, and Richard hasn’t publicly stated if he’s leaving the show. But if those backstage whispers are anything to go by, there may be a lot of changes happening in 2027 when it comes to The Voice!
