Steph de Sousa is a grandmother all over again!
The MasterChef Australia alum and cookbook author has announced the arrival of another grandchild, with her daughter Darby de Sousa welcoming a baby boy six weeks early.
When announcing the news on Instagram, Steph shared that baby Amari Jack had “joined our family in a hurry”, reassuring followers that “Mum and Bub [are] both super stars and doing so well.”

Now Steph has opened up to Woman’s Day about Amari’s whirlwind arrival – and the fear that came with it.
“I tried to not look worried but I really was,” Steph tells Woman’s Day. “All of my babies were two weeks late, so I had no experience with prem[ature] babies.”
The timing, she says, was almost unbelievable. “We were opening our other grandbaby Lylah’s first birthday presents when Darby’s waters broke! We were full of excitement and fear.”
Thankfully, mother and son are thriving. “Mum and Bub are doing so well,” Steph says. “Both are home with us to help out for a little while, but still under the care of the hospital.”
She also shared some adorable exclusive photos with us!

Steph de Sousa’s joy as a grandmother
For Steph, nothing could top that first cuddle. “It was quite a few days before I was able to hold him, but it was just the most beautiful thing to hold my baby’s baby!”
Amari Jack is Steph’s second biological grandchild, following granddaughter Lylah Juliete, who was born in August 2025 to Steph’s son Tannah. She’s also a foster grandmother.
