Duchess Catherine has put on many a fashion spectacle in her time, but this one might well take the cake.

In a rare, yet glorious red carpet appearance, the royal has managed to spellbind the masses with one, breathtaking Alexander McQueen gown – and interestingly, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen her wear it.

Stepping out at the 2020 BAFTA Awards on Sunday evening, Kate was the image of Hollywood glamour in a beautiful white and gold Alexander McQueen dress.

Featuring a cream bodice lined with a square neckline embellished with gold, the beautiful short-sleeved gown captured our immediate attention – despite a flurry of other A-listers also donning drool-worthy dresses.

Kate accessorised the look with a beautiful mother of pearl Van Cleef & Arpels necklace and drop earrings, as well as a Anya Hindmarch clutch.

She completed the look with a chic pair of Jimmy Choo pumps.

Duchess Catherine and husband Prince William were the image of class as they stepped out at the annual BAFTA Awards.

Kate accessorised her look with some incredible glimmering jewellery.

While Kate’s ensemble looked sparkling brand new, her dress was actually a recycled look – she wore the very same McQueen gown back in 2012!

The dress was worn during one of Kate and William’s royal tours that year – a visit to Malaysia’s Head of State in September 2012.

The move was clearly well thought out by the Duchess and her team of stylists – the BAFTA association made a pointed promise this year to be more sustainable, and to encourage sustainability with its members.

Given Prince William is President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, it makes sense to see Kate practising exactly that – and we were more than happy to see the reappearance of the gown!

The BAFTA is putting emphasis on sustainability at this year’s awards.

In a report by PEOPLE, the award’s style guide outlined that the BAFTA are “doing more than ever before to consider sustainability across its awards ceremonies, including inviting guests to ‘dress sustainably'”.

While some could make like Kate and re-wear an old favourite gown, another option for guests was to choose sustainable brands to dress them.

One such option could have been the formidable Stella McCartney, who is a favourite of Meghan Markle’s.

Kate’s dress sent a clear, sustainable, message at the event.

In a statement to Harper’s BAZAAR, the BAFTA confirmed: “The goal is that the EE British Academy Film Awards 2020 will be carbon neutral, working towards having a net positive impact on the environment. From travel and food, to branding and materials, BAFTA is ensuring the awards are as sustainable as possible.”

Suffice to say it was an absolute joy to see Kate spread a positive message for the environment, and look incredible at the same time.
