Home and Away star Emily Symons has reminisced on the “unforgettable” time she met Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the Queen’s somber funeral on Monday, the soap star took to Instagram to share a photo of herself shaking the Queen’s hand in 2022 during her Golden Jubilee tour of Britain.

Emily met the Queen alongside her co-stars Mark Charnock, Elizabeth Estensen and Sheree Murphy from Emmerdale, a British soap opera she starred in from 2001 to 2008.

“Watching the beautiful farewell to the Queen last night with [her son] Henry and he asked me if I ever met her,” the mother-of-one penned.

“It was such a great honour to meet her with my dear friends from Emmerdale. I will never forget this day and her beautiful smile. Vale Queen Elizabeth.”

In the throwback photo, Emily donned a black blouse and pants while the Queen, grinning from ear to ear, wore an apricot coat and matching hat.

During the Queen’s 70-year reign, she met dozens of Australian celebrities and dignitaries.

Pop star Kylie Minogue had the honour of meeting the late monarch in 2012 at the Royal Variety Performance in London.

In 2011, Hugh Jackman, Elle Macpherson and Neighbours star Jason Donovan enjoyed a reception with the Queen and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace ahead of her royal tour in Australia.

Actress Cate Blanchett attended a dinner party with the Queen and Prince Philip in the late 90s after playing the monarch in the 1998 film, Elizabeth.

The Oscar-winning actress recalled her meeting with the royals, saying Prince Philip hilariously asked her to help them fix their DVD player.

“There were 12 of us, and I couldn’t work out for the life of me why I’d been invited. Playing Queen Elizabeth and sitting next to her, I thought, ‘Maybe she’s seen the movie and wants to ask me about my interpretation’,” Cate said on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show in 2018.

Referring to the Duke of Edinburgh, Cate said: “I sat next to him and he said, “I hear you’re an actor? Well, I was given a DVD player for Christmas and I can’t work out whether I put the green cord in or the red cord”.
