The Traitors Australia wasn’t Luke Packham’s first rodeo when it comes to reality television. After appearing on Love Island in 2019 and The Block in 2021 with his twin brother Josh, he thought he would be ready for whatever The Traitors mansion would throw a him. But according to Luke, it was so much harder than he could have imagined.
“Even though it’s a short amount of time, it’s exhausting. You get really encapsulated in the game,” Luke explains to TV WEEK.
“Your anxiety levels go through the roof. I found it incredibly hard to sleep at night. By the end of it, I wasn’t eating very well at all. I could barely hold down a meal. I was just obsessing non-stop about how I was going to survive and who the traitors are. It’s hard to keep it together”.
While it might sound like Luke had a pretty terrible time on The Traitors, he says that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, he says it was his favourite reality show that he’s ever been a part of.
“I just loved playing the game. It was brilliant,” he reflects, noting that he just couldn’t switch his mind off from the game play.
“The Block was incredibly stressful. It’s a long slog and it’s tiring and draining. Love Island gets quite boring. You’re just locked in a house, having the same conversation over and over. At least with The Traitors, we’re playing a game similar to Love Island but you’ve got an objective you’re trying to achieve.
Luke Packham calls out the ‘silent players’
Throughout the game, Luke and Josh were pretty vocal players. But watching the series back, Luke admits he became pretty frustrated by how many people in the manor were playing it safe by keeping their opinions to themselves.
“Everyone plays the game differently. But no one ever came up to me being like, ‘Hey, I’ve got this information’,” Luke shares.
“We just became quite dominant voices… other people were very happy to sit behind us… if they get it wrong, they’ll go.”
“People kept things very quiet and were too afraid to say it and they’d sit on their hands. It’s frustrating for me watching it now. I wish there were more voices pushing because there was a lot of people that wanted to play safe, and that annoyed me.”

Would Luke do more reality TV?
With The Traitors, Luke now has three reality shows under his belt but he’s open to adding more to his resume — and doing Traitors again.
“If I wad going to do something with my brother, I’d love to do The Amazing Race,” Luke says.
“Josh and I, from when we were little kids, used to say that we wanted to do The Amazing Race. So if that ever popped up, Josh and I will 100 per cent be on that plane. We just love doing things together.”

“If it’s a solo mission…” Luke continues.
“Potentially Survivor but the ego in me would want to do The Traitors all over again.”
You can watch The Traitors on 10 and 10Play.
