Presley Gerber, son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has died aged 27.
He passed away on Sunday, September 20 at a rehab facility, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records obtained by People. TMZ was first to report the news.
A representative for the family told People they are asking for privacy “during this very difficult and painful time”. TMZ reports an autopsy has not yet been completed.
Born in Beverly Hills in 1999, Presley signed with IMG Models at 15 and later modelled alongside younger sister Kaia Gerber. He made his runway debut for Moschino in Los Angeles, walked for Dolce & Gabbana in Milan and appeared in a Calvin Klein campaign.
In recent years, Presley spoke candidly about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse. He started a “Mental Health Mondays” series on Instagram, sharing his experience of recovery and building healthier habits.
On the Studio 22 podcast, he said if he could help one person, or a hundred, that would be enough.
“[Mental health] is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it,” Presley said. “That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgement.”
He added, “I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.”
Kaia reflected on her brother’s battles in the September 2026 issues of Vogue, describing how hard it was on the whole family.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia said, adding that she ended up putting her needs on the back burner. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”
She also said she admired his openness, calling him an “absolute teacher” for choosing to be so honest when their parents had always been private.
