It’s not every day you see an 18-year-old girl wrestle a crocodile to the ground. But Bindi Irwin isn’t your ordinary girl.

Just days before the 10-year anniversary of her dad Steve’s death, his wildlife-loving daughter posted a video to Instagram of herself, along with an eight-man crew, wrestling with “Big Dunc” – a crocodile the Australia Zoo Croc Team are tracking throughout the Wenlock River in North Queensland.

Like father, like daughter…

But despite Bindi posting the video in a bid to recognise the Croc Team’s efforts of “protecting crocodiles as well as educating others”, many Instagram users were quick to call the team out for being cruel to the croc. This was based on the fact that Big Dunc was pinned down even though his mouth was already tied up.

Some questioned the animal conservationist’s actions – “Isn’t this animal cruelty?” – while others slammed the video, stating: “This is inhumane and unbelievably cruel. You should be ashamed!”

Crikey.

What do you think? Do you think it’s an exercise in conservation and education? Or an act of cruelty?
