Michael Goonan has not made a good name for himself this year on Married At First Sight.
Between the drinking and cheating scandal (which he’s still not fully owned up to), the 29-year-old company director has been crowned as this year’s villain and it seems he’s even rubbing his fellow contestants up the wrong way.
In exclusive chats with Now To Love, Cathy and Josh unleashed on Michael, especially in regards to that cheating scandal.
Cathy and Josh aren’t exactly Michael’s biggest fans.
(Image: Nine Network)When asked if there were any contestants that were very different in real life compared to on the show, Josh, 28, said that Michael was the same in real life as he was depicted on the show.
“He comes across like an absolute a**ehole on the show, and to me, that’s how I found him when the cameras were on, when the cameras were off,” he revealed.
“I found him to be quite arrogant, thought he was above everyone and was always quite rude. I get along with everyone and, I tell you what, that guy is just not a nice person.”

Josh’s on-screen bride Cathy was also quick to slam Michael, saying that he and Hayley were equally responsible for the cheating scandal and admitting that she struggled to watch Stacey defend Michael.
“I actually started to get quite angry because I felt like there was one person in denial which was Stacey, and Michael was also in denial, but I couldn’t believe these people were lying just to maintain an image,” she revealed to us.
“I really do feel like Michael had cheated and even if he wants to come out and say ‘I did cheat if going into Hayley’s room, dancing on her and being flirtatious is a level of cheating’ then why not to admit to it?”
“I really do feel like Michael had cheated.”
(Image: Nine Network)Cathy, 26, also took aim at Hayley, remarking that despite coming clean, she ultimately broke the girl code established at the hens party.
“What really annoyed me is that it doesn’t make it better that you owned up to it. It doesn’t mean that the actions can be dismissed because you owned up to cheating, it doesn’t make you a better person,” she says.
“We may have a little bit more respect because you owned up to it because the other guy you cheated with can’t but don’t think that you’re now looked upon as a saint because you admit to doing wrong. You were all in the wrong and all need to be in the dog house!”

(Images: Nine Network)Josh also revealed to us that he was “massively disappointed in David’s behaviour on the show, despite the groom being his best friend in the experiment.
“That’s not okay – what he did,” Josh said in regards to the toothbrush scandal. “That’s never okay.”
“I know him and Hayley weren’t getting along, he had his separate room. I think he could have walked away from that with clean hands but unfortunately, obviously, he was in a dark place. I know he was not doing too well in there. He’d obviously snapped and just done that out of spite and revenge.”
“It’s not the right thing to do, but you know, that’s my mate so obviously I’m still there for him, but he knows how disappointed, a lot of us who got along with Dave, were in him for doing that.”
Josh added that he was oblivious that the incident had occurred during filming.
“I had no idea. Obviously he filmed a video and sent it out, and there were a few rumours circulating around this thing. I didn’t even want to ask, I was embarrassed to ask. Then at the dinner party it all came out. I was just like ‘you’re kidding me’. It was disappointing, that’s what it was.”
