While it’s true that we tend to take our romance cues from Hollywood (think Love Actually and Titanic), no one really knows love better than the ancient Greeks.
Years and years before the days of Netflix and chill, sociologist John Alan Lee theorised there to be six types of love; Agape, Ludus, Storge, Eros, Mania and Pragma.
Each type, based on the love experienced and described by those who know best, is determined by a set of rather specific characteristics.
For example, while a playful Ludus lover might heavily rely on attraction to maintain connection, it’s partners of the romantic Eros variety who have been known to really go the distance.
