Sorry Richard Wilkins, you didn't make the cut.

Speculation has been rife that the reality TV geniuses over at Nine have a celebrity season of Married At First Sight in the works.

The rumours were then backed up when Richard Wilkins told radio duo Fitzy & Wippa that he was approached to be on the star-studded season.

“[Former Nine CEO] David Gyngell once said to me, ‘Mate, I’ll give you …’ I won’t mention the amount of money, but a lot of zeros, if you do Celebrity Married At First Sight,” the Weekend Today co-host revealed in May.

Gyngell left Nine in 2015, so this conversation may have been a while ago, but in 2020 leaked texts implied the show was still keen to try out a celebrity season.

“Producers are changing up the format. They’re going to bring back past participants and match them with celebrities,” tells our show spy.

In a leaked screenshot obtained by NW at the time, MAFS relationship expert John Aiken appeared to float two concepts for the all-star season past a mystery celeb named Reece.

With MAFS going as strong as ever it wouldn’t be surprising if the producers decided to mix up the format a little.

Chrissie Swan

After splitting form her long-term partner and debuting a dramatically slimmed-down figure, Chrissie may be ready to jump back into the dating game… or she could skip straight to marriage on celebrity MAFS! The TV and radio personality found fame on Big Brother decades ago, so she’s certainly no stranger to the reality world.

Dr Chris Brown

He’s said no to being The Bachelor, but maybe Chris will agree to star on MAFS if the experts promise him a wife who love animals just as much as he does? If not, he could always buy a farm and we’ll start petitioning him to go on Farmer Wants A Wife next.

Keira Maguire

She’s done The Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise, but we’d love to see Keira (who has a whole new look) bring her fiery personality and take-no-s–t attitude to the MAFS couch. She’s already a reality TV icon in her own right, so what’s the harm in coming back again?

Jett Kenny

After breaking into reality TV on SAS: Australia, Jett would be the perfect pick for a celeb season of MAFS. Not only does he know the ropes of producing good TV, he’s also a total hunk. Clearly he inherited his parents’ good genes!

Jamie Lee Dayz

She didn’t find love with Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins on The Bachelor or Brooke Blurton on The Bachelorette, so maybe it’s time for Jamie to try her luck with a new franchise. After two TV heartbreaks, we just want to see this gorgeous gal find her person!

Darvid Garayeli

Things didn’t really work out between Darvid and Brooke after she chose him as the winner on her season of The Bachelorette, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t give it another go on Married At First Sight. We’ll even apply to be his wife… just saying.

Shaynna Blaze

After leaving The Block, maybe Shaynna would be open to a spot on a different Nine show – can we suggest MAFS? She’s funny, down-to-earth and we’d love to see all her fashion statements in the experiment.

Jack Vidgen

He’s funny, he’s charming and he’s up for just about anything, making Jack Vidgen the perfect pick for MAFS celebrity season. Plus it would be great to finally have a male same-sex relationship represented on the show.

Natalie Imbruglia

This Aussie music icon won’t be feeling Torn if she finds love on celebrity MAFS. And let’s be honest – if her time on the show did end in heartbreak, it would probably inspire another amazing break up tune.

Brynne Edelsten

She wouldn’t be the first single mum to go on MAFS and after admitting her previous reality TV stints didn’t go too well, we’d love to see things actually work out for Brynne in the marriage experiment.
