“He leaves us with the best three months and 14 days of wonderful memories spent in this world.”

Last Friday, was a devastatingly life-changing day for Matthew and Nawwar Bryant, with the doting parents having to come to terms with their three-month-old son Zachary losing his life.

Young Zachary, who was laid to rest today at a private funeral, was one of five innocent people killed and another 37 injured in Melbourne’s Bourke Street rampage on January 20.

The Age are reporting that Zachary’s older sister, two-year-old Zara, was also injured in the attack.

“Our beautiful Zara is in a stable condition, however Zachary, our son, did not survive” the parents said in a statement after Zachary passed away on Saturday night.

“He was the most beautiful, loving, happy, and perfect little baby we were so lucky to be gifted with. He was the light of our lives constantly filling our days with smiles and laughs. He leaves us with the best three months and 14 days of wonderful memories spent in this world.”

“We want to thank everyone who has helped us, comforted us and grieved with us. Your kind words really mean the world to us. We ask you to keep us and Zara in your prayers.”

According to the ABC, the accused offender, 26-year-old Dimitrious Gargasoulas, has been charged with five counts of murder. He will stay in custody and face court through a video link in August.

As previously reported by The Weekly, Mr Gargasoulas – a man who is said to have been “well known” to police – was on bail for another crime at the time of the car rampage.

On January 14, Gargasoulas was charged with an undisclosed crime, however, he was granted bail by an after-hours judge against police’s recommendations.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
