It seems some MasterChef Australia viewers have taken Andy Allen off the menu this season, with the judge’s recent absence leaving some fans feeling like the show’s recipe was just fine without him.
The TV chef stepped away from the judging panel for a handful of episodes—including Meghan Markle’s much-talked-about guest appearance—as he and wife Alex welcomed their baby boy, but as it turned out – not everyone missed him.
MasterChef fans call out Andy Allen for ‘bias’
While fans were quick to congratulate Andy on the exciting new chapter, some viewers admitted that his time away from the kitchen was “a nice break.” Others have also aired their frustrations with his judging style, with one Reddit user claiming there were “so many times you can tell Andy was heavily biased or already made his ‘prejudgement.'”
Another shared: “He needs to learn how to critique.”
Meanwhile, over on Facebook, one person joked that if Andy was to leave the show it would be for one reason.
“If Andy screams and shouts any louder, he’ll have to leave the show to undergo medical treatment,” they said.
Andy’s future on the hit cooking competition is reportedly simmering away
Behind the scenes though, all is reportedly well with Andy’s relationship with MasterChef and Network 10.
“Andy is very much in a baby bubble at the moment,” a source said. “His family is his top priority, and he’s also got plenty of other projects in the pipeline. He’s seriously weighing up whether he has the time to continue as a judge on MasterChef.

“The set just hasn’t felt the same since Jock’s passing. There are so many memories there, and returning to the kitchen after everything happened was incredibly difficult for Andy. But he knew it’s what Jock would have wanted, so he came back.”
The source continues: “At the same time, his own life has changed dramatically. Becoming a dad has given him a whole new perspective on what really matters. He wants to spend more time with his family, and focusing on parenthood and his restaurant ventures feels like the right next step for him.”
Whether Andy ultimately decides to hang up his apron remains to be seen, but his break has certainly stirred the pot among viewers. While some missed having him in the kitchen, others seemed happy to let the show cook with a slightly different recipe for a few episodes.
