To celebrate, his parents, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are planning on throwing their adorable little man a party fit for a future King.

While William, 32, and Catherine, 33, plan to keep the celebrations a low-key and intimate affair, the pair will no doubt spoil their first born baby boy rotten.

And they won’t be the only ones. Not only is a commemorative coin being produced to honour Prince George’s first birthday, but the special day will also be marked with a set of official family photographs.

Proud aunt, Pippa Middleton, also recently hinted at what we can expect to see come George’s big day on July 22.

“Your one-year-old will feel most at ease with people they know well, so keep their first birthday party familiar and intimate,” Pippa posted onThe Party Times, the Middletons’ party planning website.

“Usually, a small crowd consisting of close family and a few friends with babies of the same age is enough.”

In a BBC report back in 1893, it was revealed that Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana were devastated they couldn’t be there for their son’s first birthday and had to make do with a phone call to wish their little boy a happy birthday.

While William was too little to talk, the pair spoke to his nanny, Barbara Barnes, but could “hear a few squeaks” from their son in the background.

“They felt the trip is too short to take Prince William. They will be spending much of their time on the royal yacht Britannia and the seas can get pretty rough this time of the year,” Victor Chapman, Prince Charles’ press officer said at the time.

A month later, Prince Charles and Diana returned home and threw Prince William a huge party with the entire royal family.
