Princess Beatrice’s ex-boyfriend Paolo Liuzzo was found dead in a Miami hotel room in February this year, sources report. He was 41 years old.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, however Miami Police Department officer Michael Vega told The Sun it was a suspected overdose.

Liuzzo’s body was found on 7 February at the citzienM Miami Worldcenter Hotel, and Officer Vega has stated: “It was investigated as an overdose death. The investigation is open and ongoing.’

The Sun reports that the death certificate stated he was working in the arts industry at the time of his passing, and had never married. It also stated he was living in an apartment located near the hotel.

A source close to Liuzzo told The Sun: “Paolo was not doing great on a personal level. He loved to party and to gamble.

“He began using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs at first but that later led to cocaine and harder drugs.

“It was a very fast lifestyle and we all feared it would catch up with him eventually.”

His funeral was held on 16 February in New York.

Beatrice dated Paolo from 2005 to 2006.

Princess Beatrice was in a relationship with Liuzzo from 2005 to May 2006, when she was 17 years old and he was 24.

Prince Andrew and the Duchess of York’s youngest daughter reportedly met Liuzzo through mutual friends and the former couple chose to keep their relationship private.

Liuzzo had a few run-ins with the law in the past, including an arrest in Australia in 2009 where he crashed his hire car into a set of traffic lights on the Gold Coast.

The then-27-year-old also failed to pay for accommodation and restaurant bills at Conrad Jupiters casino where he was staying.

He was charged with disqualified driving, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of fraud, and possessing 2g of cocaine.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and was fined almost $5000.

Prior to that, Luizzo was charged with the manslaughter of a fellow student while in the United States during a drunken fight in 2002.

However, the charge was later reduced to assault and he was instead given community service and a three-year probation.
