Royal expert Juliet Rieden has slammed Meghan Markle’s “outlandish” claims that the British media used a racial slur against her son Archie and daughter Lilibet.

In an explosive interview in The Cut, the Duchess of Sussex took aim at the British press when saying she hated royal protocol that required her to share family photos with the UK tabloids.

“Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?” the 41-year-old told the publication.

“You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game.”

Meghan’s claims have been met with skepticism by many, with Australian royal watcher Juliet Rieden blasting the revelation as “outlandish”.

“She hits against the British media all the time. She was obviously very unhappy by her treatment there. This is wholly untrue as far as I know. I have seen no reference to that whatsoever,” Juliet said on ABC’s News Breakfast this morning.

“And, of course, it’s an absolutely horrific claim.”

Juliet also raised doubt over Meghan’s “unhinged” remarks that she would “never be able to do school pickup” if Archie was going to school in the UK.

“You know, the other claim she makes about Archie is that had she remained in Britain, she wouldn’t have been able to take him to school because there would be tonnes of journalists hanging around the school gates,” Juliet said.

“Now, there are laws in Britain that surround all children – not just Archie – that journalists cannot hang around school gates.

“So that certainly wouldn’t have happened. And she needs to look at the Duchess of Cambridge who daily takes her children to school with absolutely not one picture appearing in the media. So I think that those are fairly unhinged claims there.”

In the wide-ranging and highly-publicised interview with The Cut, Meghan revealed that by signing her marriage certificate to Prince Harry in 2018, she was also signing away particular freedoms the everyday person gets to enjoy.

“It was a big adjustment – a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life,” she said.
