EXCLUSIVE: Princess Mary banned from seeing her best friend

As she prepares to be queen, Mary has been forced to make a big sacrifice.

The life of a royal can be a lonely one, which is why Princess Mary has always maintained her connections
with friends in Copenhagen.

But Woman’s Day can reveal the Tasmanian-born royal is devastated at having to cut ties with her closest Danish friend, Caroline Fleming.

Mary is devastated at being told to cut ties with her oldest friend in Denmark.

They’ve been kept apart due to the blonde’s exuberant and public lifestyle.

Caroline and Mary would talk on the phone daily, celebrate their kids’ birthdays together and go on skiing trips.

But in 2015, the 41-year-old became
a reality TV star, appearing on US series Ladies of London, and she now lives a party lifestyle, often posting shots of herself topless and drinking on Instagram.

A royal insider says Mary, 45, was told her friendship with the reality star was a bad look for a future queen, and
it’s thought she was asked to restrict contact with her.

“Because Mary will have such
an important role as queen, she really has to choose her close friends carefully,” our insider says.

Even though Mary is godmother to Caroline’s daughter Josephine, the two women are no longer in each other’s company – with the Danish royal even missing her friend’s father’s funeral this year.
