Bodyguard, starring Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes, has recently been added to the Netflix line-up and it’s safe to say we are obsessed with the suspenseful new drama series.

The series, which originally aired on BBC in the UK, arrived on Netflix on October 24, and has been greeted with high praise from viewers in the weeks since.

With an impressive cast, nail-biting plot and shock twists aplenty, there’s a lot to love about the new show. Here are five reasons we’re obsessed with the new series (and why you will too!).

1. Richard Madden is amazing

Game Of Thrones alum Richard Madden is brilliant as David Budd, a police officer assigned as a protection officer to Britain’s Home Secretary Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes). It definitely helps that he’s easy on the eye too!

2. It shines a light on major issues

With veteran David suffering from PTSD, the thriller brings the disorder to the forefront of the agenda and shows the harrowing effects war can have on former soldiers.

3. We can’t look away

We were gripped from the get-go. The 20-minute opening scene – which features David trying to talk a terrorist out of detonating a bomb on a packed train carrying his own children – left us speechless.

4. It’s all about the girl power

Yes, there’s a leading man, but it’s still all about girl power. From the very first episode, we’re introduced to female police officers, female bomb defusers and female politicians.

5. You can binge-watch the entire show

It’s on Netflix – so you can binge all six episodes all at once! If you can take the tension that comes with the plot, that is…
