Queen Elizabeth is set to officially break Queen Victoria’s record as Britain’s longest serving ruler on September 9th this year.
Queen Elizabeth, 88, “does not want a fuss” though as she bypasses Queen Victoria’s previous record-breaking reign of 63 years and 216 days.
A Buckingham Palace aide confirmed: “We are conscious that this is a historic date but it will be business as usual.”
Instead of marking the occasion with the year of festivities that marked the Monarch’s diamond jubilee in 2012, the Queen will instead be holidaying at her Scottish estate of Balmoral on the date of the momentous occasion.

A British Parliamentarian spokesman also confirmed: “There aren’t any events planned to mark the Queen becoming the longest reigning monarch.”

It’s thought perhaps that it may be Her Majesty’s 90th birthday that could be a call for festivities instead, with the Queen reaching that particular landmark on April 21, 2016.
The reason for the Queen vetoing any celebrations is reportedly “out of respect” for her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria.
The Queen’s cousin and “close confidante,” the Right Honourable Margaret Rhodes, told the UK’s Daily Express that: “The Queen is not that sort of person. She wouldn’t want a fuss.”
“I’ve certainly not heard of anything happening and I don’t think there will be.”

“She will be up in Scotland until the 8th or 9th of October and there is not much she can do from there so it seems very unlikely.”
A spokesman for Buckingham palace said: “We have said it will be treated as a normal day and on a normal day the Queen usually carries out an engagement.”
They have not ruled out the possibility of perhaps marking the day with a photocall at Balmoral though.
The spokesman continued: “That said, if there was a spontaneous national clamour for something more significant then obviously that would be taken into consideration.”
