Prince Harry arrives in Australia

Prince Harry was all smiles as he touched down in Sydney ahead of his four week visit to Australia.

Wearing his military uniform, the prince, known as Captain Wales in the British armed service, arrived on a commercial flight to Sydney before being transferred onto an RAAF jet which took him to Canberra ahead of his first public engagement.

Woman’s Day understands, excited passengers on the Qantas flight to Sydney, via Dubai tried to catch a glimpse of the 30-year-old after air hostesses hinted that the young prince was on board.

Harry’s first assignment as a VIP dignitary will see him lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial in Canberra.

He will then meet with Governor-General Peter Cosgrove before touring the Afghanistan and World War I galleries of the memorial and meeting the public.

From 10:30am he will report for duty at Defence headquarters marking the official start of his attachment to units in Darwin, Perth and Sydney.

In the coming weeks, the young prince will take part in ANZAC day services and will join his father Prince Charles in Gallipoli for the Anzac Day dawn service.
