It’s one of the most formal events of the royal calendar so we knew Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan would look radiant as always for the Commonwealth Day celebrations.

Arriving with their respective husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex along with other senior members of the royal family including the Queen, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla attended the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, March 11th.

Though the royals attend every year, 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth and this year’s theme was A Connected Commonwealth.

Duchess Catherine, the queen of fashion recycling, arrived to her fourth ever Commonwealth Day service in her red Catherine Walker button-down coat, the same one she first wore upon arrival in New Zealand back in 2014 for the royal tour.

Meanwhile Duchess Meghan opted for a black and white dress by Victoria Beckham, teamed with a smart white coat and a matching pillbox hat, a similar look to what she wore to last year’s Commonwealth service back when she was Meghan Markle. How time flies!

Once inside the Abbey, the two duchesses put a rest to those feud rumours as they greeted one another with a friendly kiss on both cheeks.

This is the second reunion of the “Fab Four” in under a week, just days ago Prince William, Duchess Catherine, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan attended a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the 50th anniversary of Prince Charles’ investiture as Prince of Wales.

While Prince William and Duchess Catherine appeared poised and formal, parents-to-be Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan beamed with the latter even sharing a joke with her father-in-law Prince Charles as they waited for the Queen to arrive.

Meanwhile, the Queen and Duchess Camilla had a fashion twinning moment as both arrived to the event dressed in regal purple.

Despite the formalities, the Commonwealth Day service featured musical performances by British band Clean Bandit and tenor, Alfie Boe. In fact when the latter performed an a capella version of Snow Patrol’s Run, Duchess Meghan was spotted with tears in her eyes.

Endurance swimmer, ocean advocate and the UN Patron of the Oceans, Lewis Pugh also spoke about all 53 nations joining together to protect our oceans in the current environmental climate.

The Westminster Abbey service wasn’t the first Commonwealth event of the day for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan though. As Prince Harry is president of the the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust and Meghan is now the Vice President, he and his wife visited Canada House in London earlier that morning to celebrate the many Canadians living in the UK.

The Duchess of Sussex herself has close ties to the country as she spent many years living in Toronto when she was filming the television series Suits where she played paralegal Rachel Zane.

And it seems Meghan is adjusting to her new life as she even joked about the Brits’ obsession with talking about the weather.

Dressed in a green wool dress and coat by Erdem she said, “They say people in the UK always talk about the weather.”

“Just go to Canada…. they talk about the weather all the time in Canada,” the duchess quipped.
