Camilla tries her hand at acting after joining forces with beloved Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is willing to give anything a go in the face of aiding the greater good – and her latest escapade is case in point.

The royal has joined forces with one of New Zealand’s most talented filmmakers, Taika Waititi in a dramatic reading of Roald Dahl’s James and The Giant Peach – and it involved her getting a little creative.

Waititi has gathered an admirable line up of celebrities who have helped bring the story to life in a unique way, arranged as a charitable response to raise funds in support of those in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the clip, Taika connects with the Duchess, who is currently isolating in her Scottish residence.

They open the books just as Camilla admits: “I’m not much of an actor”.

But try it, she does, and we must say, she’s not bad!

The Duchess issued a statement when the performance was released, saying: “I hope this campaign will raise vital funds to support those most in need at this very challenging time – as well as helping families and children currently in lockdown to find a moment of comfort through the joy of reading.”

The clip is a rare, yet encouraging way of seeing the royals use their profile for the greater good.

The managing director of the Roald Dahl Story Company, Luke Kelly added: “The participation of Her Royal Highness is a very special moment in this campaign and we feel so privileged to have her involvement—we know parents and children in lockdown all over the world are going to love this episode and we look forward to revealing further surprises in due course.”

Camilla and her husband Prince Charles have been isolating at their Scottish residence for the most part of Britain’s lockdown.

In March, the Prince himself tested positive to the virus, after which he was forced to quarantine from his wife.

Luckily, he made a full recovery, and the pair have continued to do their public work from home, sharing a number of videos from their home offices and showing their support for their patronages and other organisations working hard to help those in need during the turbulent time.

Earlier this week, Prince Charles was heard in a special two-part broadcast on Britain’s Classic FM, where he discussed his love of music and the arts.

“The first time I became aware of [music] was being taken by my grandmother to Covent Garden – aged seven I think… to see the Bolshoi Ballet perform,” he said.

“It was their first visit to the United Kingdom, and I shall never forget that incredible occasion. I was completely inspired by it.”

He added: “Which is why it’s so important, I think, for grandparents and other relations, to take children at the age of about seven to experience some of the arts in performance.”

It seems like there’s plenty of talent in this family when it comes to the arts!
