Someone needs to remind celebrities that while marriages may come and go tattoos last forever.

Melanie Griffith is that latest celebrity to show some niggling second thoughts about her permanent body art.

Earlier this month Griffith announced she was splitting from her husband of almost 20-years, Antonio Banderas and the divorce has obviously provoked the actress rethink her ink.

While attending the Taormina Film Festival in Italy Melanie sported some heavily packed concealer over the top of her former lover’s heart shaped name – an indication that she might be gearing toward a more permanent form of removal.

The Working Girl star wouldn’t be the first actress to laser off the mark of a former flame. There have been many celebrities who declared their eternal love ink before changing their minds.

While Melanie tried to hide her ink under some makeup the message is clear: Think before you ink!

When Eva Longoria was blissfully in love with her basketballer ex-husband, Tony Parker she tattooed his jersey number, “nine” on her neck. When they broke up due to infidelity rumours she divorced him and in October 2012 she was seen with a red patches where the number used to be.

In 2011 Megan Fox told Italian Magazine Amica that she was removing her Marilyn Monroe forearm tattoo. “It is a negative character, as she suffered from personality disorders and was bipolar. I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life,” said Fox.

Heidi Klum got a tattoo of her ex-hubby Seal’s name along the inside of her arm. Since the couple’s divorce the German supermodel is reportedly removing the tat.

Charlie Sheen had ex-wife Denise Richards name inked on his wrist and when they divorced he lasered it off.

Kelly Osbourne said she got most of her tattoos to deflect from her inner emotional issues. “I was miserable and I just went and got all these tattoos and I don’t know why. One of them is a keyboard and I don’t even know how to play a piano!” Kelly told Us Weekly in 2010.

According to reports Mel B admitted she got ex-boyfriend, Eddie Murphy’s name on her hip in 2007. Since that rocky relationship ended Mel had the ink removed.

Former wild woman Angelina Jolie infamously had ex-husband, Billy Bob Thorton’s name etched on her skin as a sign of her love. When their three-year marriage ended in 2003 she replaced it with the longitudes and latitudes of the birth places of her six children.

Okay, she may not regret this now but UK singer Cheryl Cole’s giant rose illustration on her derrière is causing many to speculate that it’s only a matter of time before Ms Cole wished she put her tattoo days behind her when she got this inked.

Singer Pharrell had his full sleeve of tattoos taken off in 2009. On his blog artist wrote: “Laser treatment bitches! Extra crispy. See, no skin graft here, just pure laser pain. This is our own version of Mythbusters! Laser is the new primer.”
