After years of break-ups, broken engagements and reconciliations, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are officially husband and wife!
The non-traditional couple have long considered themselves married and always said they “didn’t feel the need to sign a piece of paper” that declared them to be as such.
However, a close pal reveals the pair have done just that – and did it right here in Oz while vacaying in Byron Bay over the holidays.
“It’s such a special place for them,” reveals NW‘s insider. “It felt right.”
Indeed, two years after ending their first engagement, Miley, 25, and Liam – who turned 28 on January 12 – rekindled their romance at the end of 2015 while ringing in the New Year in the gorgeous New South Wales coastal town.
“It’s where they realised that they couldn’t live without each other and decided to really give their relationship another go,” continues the friend.

“It was a no-brainer that it’d be the place they tied the knot, if and when they decided to.”
It also makes sense, continues the insider, that they got hitched on a whim, as Miley and Liam are “very passionate and impulsive people… That’s what makes them so perfect for each other.”
