We always knew Crown Princess Mary of Denmark had a knack for style, but she's stepped things up a notch for a very special royal occasion.
The stunning Tasmanian-born Princess and husband Crown Prince Frederik dressed to the nines for Prince Charles' 70th birthday celebrations at Buckingham Palace, and a new candid picture of the couple proves just how stunning (and smitten!) they are.
The image, which was posted on the Danish Royal Family Instagram account, shows the glitzy couple looking incredible before they headed off to the birthday celebrations.
But the most touching detail was one you could very nearly miss! If you look closely, you'll see the pair are holding hands in a rare public display of affection. Swoon!
Princess Mary, 46, wore an elegant one-shoulder velvet gown in deep blue with a fitted waist and striking gold feature at the middle. She accessorised the look with some beautiful drop earrings and a golden bracelet with her hair swept into an up-do.
Meanwhile Prince Frederik, 50, who looks rather chuffed with his stunning date in the picture, was dapper in a blue suit and bow-tie.
The official royal Instagram account is usually filled with professional and official images, so this less-formal, more relaxed image is a beautiful rarity!
The couple, who stepped out without their four children, joined a number of other European royal dignitaries at the birthday event, including Prince Albert of Monaco, Queen Sofia of Spain and Queen Mathilde of Belgium.
And we can't forget the [other British royals who also dressed to impress! Clarence House posted a picture of the birthday boy himself with wife Camilla ahead of the birthday bash.
Ever the charmer, Charles looked smart in a black tuxedo while Camilla's striking midnight dress looked stunning.
Meanwhile Duchess Catherine and Duchess Meghan's blinging looks were also the talk of the town. The pair, who were driven into the lavish event by their respective husbands, looked ravishing in heavy silver earrings oozing with jewels.
As husband Prince William drove her into Buckingham Palace, we got a glimpse of stunning Kate who had her hair in a sleek up-do with sparkling antique earrings. The top of her dress was also in sight, appearing to be a soft pink strapless design.
Duchess Meghan also opted for a classic up-do with her dark locks parted to the side which meant her ornate silver earrings took pride of place.
At the dinner, the Queen toasted her son in a rare and heartfelt speech, saying: "It is a privilege for any mother to be able to propose a toast to her son on his 70th birthday."
She continued: "It means that you have lived long enough to see your child grow up. It is rather like —to use an analogy I am certain will find favour — planting a tree and being able to watch it grow."
The Prince's mother went on to express her pride for her son's work in conservation, the arts and his dedication to charity work.
"Most of all, sustained by his wife Camilla, he is his own man, passionate and creative," she said.
