Kate Middleton’s amazing maternity style

Kate's first baby bump is as well dressed as her first. Take a look at the best maternity looks she's had with royal baby #2.

All eyes have been on the Duchess since the announcement of her second pregnancy in September last year. If possible, this pregnancy has drawn even more focus than her first, with every engagement and appearance drawing crowds.

The Duchess gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 8.34am in London, on May 2nd.

While we count down until Kate’s next engagement, we revisit the best maternity outfits the Duchess pulled off.

In contrast to her pregnancy with her son, Prince George, Duchess Kate’s maternity wardrobe has included mostly dark colours. The first saw lemon yellow coats, bright blue and emerald green dresses and peachy pink ensembles, but this time round Catherine has decided to go with more refined greys, blacks and burgundies. Far from gloomy, Kate’s choices are elegant and reserved, perfect for a second pregnancy.

With the exception of a red dress, and another light blue dress in the early stages of her pregnancy, and a pop of bright pink at the end, the mother-of-two has stayed quite reserved with her choices, favouring her signature coatdresses, demure knee-length dresses and tights and heels. Since her bump has grown, the Duchess has been turning to shifts dresses to accommodate her belly.

We can’t wait to see what she wears to present the Princess to the world!

In her very first appearance since her pregnancy announcement, the Duchess wore this checkered Alexander McQueen coat dress. Paired with a fascinator, Prada heels and a clutch, the look was very reserved and hid all signs of her tiny baby bump.

Just a few weeks after the announcement of her pregnancy, Kate was seen at the Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards wearing this pale jade Jenny Packham dress and nude bow-accented heels.

Attending a gala two days later, Kate chose this modern dress by English favourite Temperley London. It’s not the first time the Duchess has stepped out in Temperley, she is a long-time fan of the brand.

She was wearing black again for her next engagement at the Royal Variety Performance, this dark Diane Von Furstenberg gown featured lace sleeves with a scalloped neckline. She wore diamonds and a black clutch with the look.

Braving the cold weather and debuting a bit of colour, the pregnant Duchess wore a bright red Katherine Hooker long-sleeved dress with green jewels, black pumps and a ponytail.

Returning to her favourite maternity brand, Seraphine, Kate wore a burgundy tweed coat with black piping. She also wore black gloves and black tights.

Concealing her stretch skirt and Tanya Taylor blouse underneath her Tory Burch duffle coat. The sleek black coat featured white details.

Stepping out in another dark colour, Duchess Kate decided to wear this dark green Jenny Packham for the third time. She mixed it up with emerald jewels and an up do.

Appearing visibly pregnant for the first time, Kate wore a navy and pink tweed shift with black tights and pumps. After Kate appeared in their ‘Naomi’ shift dress, the brand Madderson’s website crash from the traffic.

Kate kept in theme on a visit to the headquarters of Portsmouth boat racing, wearing an adorable shift dress printed with sailboats by Alice Temperley.

For her visit to the Turner Contemporary Gallery, Kate chose to recycle this Dalmatian print shift she wore while pregnant with George. She paired the look with black pumps, a black clutch and a sleek ponytail.

Blue seemed to be the order of the day for the Duchess. She wore this stunning Beulah London maternity coat in navy blue, with a navy dress, navy pumps, navy hat, a navy pendant and her engagement ring, which happens to be – you guessed it – navy blue.

Forgoing the typical green dress, Kate attended the St Patrick’s Day celebrations wearing this deep brown Catherine Walker dress, with a pill box hat of the same colour. She accessorised with brown pumps, a sprig of fresh shamrocks, and a diamond shamrock broach loaned to her by the Queen Mother’s collection.

Showing off just how strong the “Kate Middleton Effect” really is, the blooming Duchess wore this spotted ASOS Maternity dress, only for it to sell out in less than 3 minutes.

For the Duchess’ final appearance before her maternity leave, Kate chose this bright pink fuchsia coat by Mulberry, maybe indicating that she was having a Princess. She paired the coat with black pumps, a black clutch, and beautiful loose curls.
