Without a fuss or any notice, Duchess Catherine made a secret visit to a women’s prison on Friday to meet with victims of addiction.

She may have looked glamorous, but make no mistake the Duchess of Cambridge’s latest outing was anything but.

Ordinarily Kensington Palace releases information about all of the official engagements being attended by the young royals, however Catherine’s touching visit to Her Majesty’s Send Prison in Working, England went unannounced and it was for a cause she is fiercely passionate about.

Although every Royal has causes, charities and pursuits that they participate in, few of them are as raw or as unglamorous as this.

The mum-of-two met with current and past female prisoners who had, or are participating in the Rehabilitation for Addicted Prisoners Trust – which aims to help those in the prison system struggling with addiction.

After her visit the Duchess explained, “I was reminded today how addictions lie at the heart of so many social issues.”

“I saw again today that a failure to intervene early in life to tackle mental health problems and other challenges can have profound consequences for people throughout their lives,” she added.

“I am grateful to the women I met for sharing their difficult personal stories with me.”

This may the future Queen’s second official visit since giving birth to Princess Charlotte, but it seems she is ready to jump straight back into her royal duties!
