It seems like an eternity ago that Matt Agnew declared his love for Chelsie McLeod in last year’s Bachelor finale.

Their happily-ever-after was short-lived, but perhaps this year’s Bachie and his chosen lady will fare differently?

Channel Ten has confirmed that Survivor‘s Locklan “Locky” Gilbert is the 2020 Bachelor, and after last year’s break up and the Honey Badger’s infamous anti-climactic finale, we have high hopes for a new love story this season.

“I really want to find love. I’m pretty content with my life at the moment. I go on crazy adventures, but I’m doing it all by myself,” Locky said in a statment released by Ten.

“I’ve got best friends, but I want to find that one best friend that I can spend the rest of my life with. This is an amazing opportunity to hopefully find someone special at the end.”

An experienced cave diver, base jumper, mountaineer and athlete, the 30-year-old adventure guide is sure to break hearts as a swathe of women vie for his affections.

So what exactly is the recently eliminated Australian Survivor contestant looking for?

Well according to Channel Ten, a “driven and outdoorsy woman with a wicked sense of adventure” would rank top of the list.

It seems the idea of becoming The Bachelor may have been on Locky’s mind for a while, with TV WEEK first reporting his intentions to take part in the show as early as last month.

“If the opportunity came up to do The Bachelor, I’d definitely have to consider it,” Locky said at the time.

And it turns out that Locky has had encouragement from a former Bachelor contestant!

“I was with Matty J recently and he reckons it was an amazing experience, so yeah I’d give it a crack for sure!”

While Locky is yet to meet the women battling it out for his heart in the mansion, the hearthrob was already causing a stir among his co-stars while living rough in Fiji.

Locky and fellow castmate Brooke Jowett struck up a strong connection, with Brooke speaking candidly about their romance to TV WEEK earlier this week.

“I’d think, ‘Does he like me? Or is just using me [in the game]?'” she says. “And he’s thinking the same about me!” she said.

“But really, I trusted him from the start, and it was nice to have someone who made you feel good and not miss home so much.”

Following her shock elimination from All Stars, Daisy Richardson also opened up about missing her chance with Locky.

“Shoulda, woulda, coulda!” she said about her regrets.

“Only so much can happen in seven days so you can’t live your life wondering about what ifs. I think Locky’s my type of guy so who knows what would have happened?”

Last year, we saw astrophysicist Matt Agnew give The Bachelor a go to find his partner in crime.

Whilst we saw plenty of memorable moments, ranging from the dog c— saga, through to contestant Rachael’s ‘Plan B’ with a producer, Matt fell for fellow science nerd Chelsie, but sadly they broke up just under two months after the finale aired.

“I’ve got a real ‘do it once, do it right’ mentality so I’ll be making sure I throw myself into it, be vulnerable and enjoy what comes from that,” Matt said shortly after he was announced as the 2019 Bachelor.

“It may be an unorthodox way to meet someone, but I think it’ll be a sensational experience and make for a cracking ‘how we met’ story!”
