They declared their love for one another in The Bachelor 2019’s finale which aired in September.

But just two months on, Matt Agnew and Chelsie Mcleod’s relationship has gone up in smoke.

Taking to his Instagram account on Sunday, Dr Matt announced the pair had gone their separate ways.

“These past six months since filming have been a very unique experience,” he began.

“Chels and I have made some beautiful memories together that I’ll always cherish, and I wish her nothing but the absolute best.

“However, it’s with a heavy heart that I write this. For Chels and me, our relationship hasn’t translated from filming to the real, every day world as we had hoped.

“Chels is a very special woman and I want her to find the happiness she deserves.

“For those who may wonder if there’s someone else for me right now, there absolutely is not.

“It’s no one’s fault, it’s just life.”

Chelsie also confirmed the split on her own Instagram account posting photos of her and Matt’s time together on The Bachelor.

“Thank you so much to everyone for your support and kind words over what was an incredibly exciting, rewarding, challenging, and emotional journey,” she wrote.

“Your words have not gone unnoticed. Matt showed me what it was like to be respected in a relationship and I am so thankful for that. However, it saddens me to say that we are no longer together.

“I wish him nothing but the best. I’m sorry to those that were invested in our relationship. Please remember to be kind online as you don’t know what is going on behind the screen. All my love.”

In the Bachelor finale, Matt confessed he had fallen head over heels for chemical engineer Chelsie and gifted her a “memory” ring in honour of their time on the show together.

Speaking to Now to Love after the episode aired, Matt and Chelsie revealed just how difficult it was to keep their relationship under wraps while the show was still airing.

“[It was] bloody hard!” Matt said, but admitted he had an easier ride because he was the Bachelor, rather than a contestant.

“Probably a bit easier for me because unless I didn’t pick someone, people know there’s going to be someone that I’m texting so as long as I had a code name in my phone I could still message, I could still send things and people couldn’t really deduce anything.”

Meanwhile for blonde beauty Chelsie, she had to keep tight lipped as to whether she left the mansion heartbroken or in love.

“People didn’t know whether to console me or be happy for me, they just don’t know how to act around you. They’re like ‘Do I bring tissues or wine?’ Both!” she laughed at the time.

Cracks began to show after filming wrapped, when the couple didn’t appear to be spending much time together, with Chelsie often showing frustration when her Instagram followers would ask where Matt was.

Though they both spent a lot of time playing down break-up rumours, speculation eventually proved true when they publicly called time on their relationship.

In the wake of the split, Chelsie has since made a request via her Instagram story, writing “Hey guys, don’t send me any articles if that’s ok. It won’t help.”

We’ll always have the memories!
