Rolf Harris could be freed in six weeks – having served half of his 5 years and 9 months sentence

Disgraced showman Rolf Harris could be freed from prison in just six weeks according to a source close to the 87-year-old.

He’s allegedly been told he can leave the Stafford prison in the third week of June after nearly three years in jail.

A source told The Daily Mirror: “Rolf is now counting down the days. He isn’t enjoying jail life at all and is desperate to get out.

“His wife Alwen is 85 and has been in failing health, so he wants to be reunited with her as soon as possible.”

Alwen Harris (second from left) is believed to be in poor health.

He will have carried out roughly half of his 5 years and 9 months sentence if he is freed next month.

Harris arrives at Southwark Crown Court to face sentencing on 12 previous counts of indecent assault on July 4, 2014.

In July 2014, a unanimous jury convicted him on all 12 counts of indecent assault committed on girls as young as 7 between 1968 and 1986.

On January 9 this year, Harris came before another London court to face a further seven charges involving allegations made by seven women over a 33-year period from 1971.

He was found not guilty on two counts of indecent assault and one of sexual assault.

Harris faces a further crown court trial over the unresolved counts on May 15 and will face extra time in jail if found guilty.

Harris has spent the past 60 years living in the UK and shot to fame with his signature instrument, a wobbleboard, and his 1960s hit Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport.

As one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers, he later went on to perform at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert in 2012 and painted a portrait of Her Majesty on her 80th birthday in 2006.
