On any given night in Australia, 49,000 women are homeless.
Every year 39,000 women and children come to homelessness services because of domestic and family violence. And due to having nowhere affordable to live, 7,690 women a year are forced to return to the perpetrators.

Choosing between being in an unsafe home and being homeless is no choice at all.
Australian women deserve to have a safe place to live. A place that ensures they can still go to work every day and raise their children.
Australia’s Unhoused women is a national crisis, and it can affect you, a family member or a friend in the blink of an eye.
But we can do something about it.
We are calling on our Government to invest $7.6billion to provide permanent housing for women. This investment will provide 16,810 homes for women and their children. Permanent and safe homes. We must tell our Government that women’s safety matters.

Julie says: “Far too many Australian women are faced with the reality of living without secure and permanent accommodation. Whether it’s due to domestic violence, divorce, mental or physical illness, job loss or other reasons, the possibility of not having a safe home is confronting, lonely and frightening. No woman should have to face the prospect of homelessness – especially in this country, with the resources that we have. I support the ‘Unhoused’ campaign, and hope that by highlighting this issue ahead of the election we can collectively drive policy change that ensures no woman is forced into homelessness again.”
