The Daily Telegraph reports 10-year-old Mathew Mitchell will go down in the record books after surviving a funnel-web bite and receiving 12 vials of antivenene – the most in Aussie history!

Matthew was helping his dad Darren clean up the back shed in their Berkeley Vale property after a weekend of racing motorbikes when the deadly spider bit his finger.

“It sort of clawed onto me and all the legs and everything crawled around my finger and I couldn’t get it off,” Matthew told The Daily Telegraph.

Matthew was rushed to Gosford Hospital where he received 12 vials of antivenene – the most administered to any survivor in living memory.

The spider was taken to the Australian Reptile Park.

General manager Tim Faulkner said Matthew was “as lucky as they get”.
