A baby girl has defied all expectations when she opened her eyes after being in an induced coma since September.

Doctors in France wanted to switch baby Marwa’s life support machine off but her family sought court action as they weren’t ready to give her up.

Marwa’s brain was not seen to be responding to the coma and doctors assumed she would have suffered neurological problems as a result. They worried she’d struggle to breathe, eat and walk.

But a court order for an ‘extension of care’ gave Marwa two more months and thank goodness for that as the little girl miraculously woke up 10 days later.

Her father posted footage on Facebook of the moment she opened her eyes.

The one-year-old’s mother has since clarified on social that all of her organs work how they should and her father says she’s getting better each day.

Speaking to a local news website, her father said: “Her treatment continues, but we see progress every day and that gives us a lot of hope.”

Sending well wishes for a full recovery. What a little fighter.
