Michelle Obama was a sight to behold as she dazzled for her final year hosting the Kennedy Center Honors as First Lady.

It’s the season to be festive, and with her new long bob in tow, Michelle was sublime at the 39th annual event.

FLOTUS donned a forest green off-the-shoulder Gucci gown covered in shimmery pink flowers and emerald green leaves.

Her sleek new ‘do complimented her natural make-up and statement silver earrings.

As for the man of the hour, her husband President Obama, was 007 suave in a very handsome tux and bow tie.

Obama admitted that being able to participate in the gala was “one of the perks of the jobs.”

“The arts have always been part of life at the White House because the arts are always central to American life,” he said.

“That’s why over the past eight years Michelle and I have invited some of the best writers, musicians, actors and dancers to share their gifts with the American people and to help tell the story of who we are.”

Check out the couple’s best looks from the evening and over the years!

Michelle Obama is a shining star, dressed in a festive green Gucci design.

The president and first lady received “the longest, loudest standing ovation” at the gala.

Looking sharp Mr President! Obama rocks a very handsome bow-tie.

This isn’t the first time that Michelle has dazzled in green. Wearing an emerald Grecian-styled Marchesa gown and with her hair in soft waves, FLOTUS was romance personified for the 36th annual ceremony, back in 2013.

Last year, Michelle pulled her hair back for a slick blow dry, while she wowed in an Oscar de la Renta creation.

Vera Wang sure knows how to make blue the warmest colour. The beloved couple were fairytale perfection in 2011.

In 2009, Michelle stepped into the Kennedy Centre, for the very first time as First Lady… Dressed in an elegant orchid Peter Soronen gown, Barack (and vice president/part-time best friend Joe Biden) was clearly smitten by his wife.

In 2010, FLOTUS was the lady in red, wearing one of her favourite designers Naeem Khan. Scarlet is the perfect Christmas colour!

The way you look tonight! Shining brighter than a gold star, the mum-of-two donned Michael Kors back in 2012.

Looking like a Christmas snow angel, glittering across the White House, Michelle rocked a Monique Lhuillier creation.
