Goop has come under fire countless times but this time Gwyn’s website is being accused of using scare tactics for readership.

For breast cancer awareness month the lifestyle site published a nearly 2,700 word essay by the actress’ favourite doctor Dr. Habib Sadeghi.

The article mentioned the link between breast cancer and wearing a bra – the only problem is, that claim has been scientifically discredited, and now health professions are angry.

Dr Sadeghi wrote that wearing a bra for 12 hours a day could potentially be linked to a build-up of cancer-causing toxins in the breast tissue.

“This stuff scares women, when people have cancer they desperately reap their past to try and come up with things they may have done, San Francisco-based OB-GYN Jennifer Gunter told Huffington Post

“So this kind of misinformation could cause women to stress and lose sleep and that is definitely bad for your health, never mind being cruel,” she added.

In the essay Goop’s heath guru referenced a 1995 journal called Dressed to Kill: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras – which has since been proved to be scientifically incorrect.

A Goop spokesperson told Daily Mail that the site “regularly shares perspectives and insights from a range of experts in health, wellness, and other fields.”
