Married at First Sight sexologist Alessandra Rampolla has revealed her shock at being nominated for Most Popular New Talent at the 2022 TV WEEK Logie Awards.

The sexologist, who joined fellow relationship experts John Aiken and Mel Schilling on MAFS‘ eighth season in 2021, is up for the coveted Graham Kennedy Award.

In 2006, the Graham Kennedy Award was introduced to recognise Australia’s newest stars who have made their mark in the entertainment industry over the past year.

Speaking to the Allan and Carly For Breakfast radio show on Wednesday, Alessandra spoke about her shock at receiving the nomination.

“Isn’t it weird?! Is that the word I should use? I was so surprised with the nomination,” she gushed.

“I’m very happy about it. So I’m very excited about it with the Logies coming up this weekend.”

Alessandra admitted that while she’s never watched the TV WEEK Logie Awards in the past, she had heard about it.

“The time difference is very big but of course [the Logie Awards] is right up there with the Emmys or with the Martín Fierro [Awards] in Argentina for instance, or other international awards. So I know about them,” she added.

Alessandra said she isn’t shocked that fans are still talking about MAFS‘ ninth season nearly three months after the finale.

“I knew it was going to be explosive… It’s exciting that everybody’s still having these conversations – even when they’re difficult ones – I think they’re important to have,” she said.

Vying for the award alongside Alessandra is Home and Away‘s Matt Evans, actor Carlos Sanson Jr, comedian Melanie Bracewell, The Project panelist Tony Armstrong and Love Me star Will Lodder.

The last star to win the Graham Kennedy Award was tennis-pro-turned-TV-personality Dylan Alcott back in 2019, before the Logies were forced into a two-year COVID hiatus.
