Facing up to your mistakes is a recommended pathway to closure. But in Home and Away, Zane that it also comes with heavy consequences.
This week, Marilyn (Emily Symons) is in a standoff with Austin, the older brother of Heidi, who was injured in the accidental assault by Zane (Angus McColl) decades ago.
In recent episodes, Zane has sent an apology letter to Heidi for what he did all those years ago – he accidentally struck her with a bat when he panicked during a bungled robbery. Marilyn, who had encouraged him to reach out, decided to do the same and called Austin. To her surprise, he showed up in Summer Bay looking for Zane.
But it’s not exactly a smooth reunion. He wants Zane to pay for what he did.
Marilyn tries to talk him down but Austin is clear: his sister has to live with a carer for the rest of her life and he won’t ever forgive Zane for that. When Zane does arrive with Alf (Ray Meagher) in tow, he’s sprung upon by Austin. Pressing Zane against the wall, Austin screams in his face – years of anger let loose.
Alf calls the police as the pair tussle. But will they arrive in time?

Elsewhere, Abigail (Hailey Pinto) is in for the shock of her life when her ex-boyfriend Richie (Rocco Forrester-Sach) reappears in Summer Bay. They embrace and Abigail releases all her family drama on him. But she realises she hasn’t asked why he’s back…
Richie tells Abigail that he’s accepted his fate isn’t to be on the police force anymore, but he couldn’t stay away. He wants her back.
“He had to find other work, and is navigating the scorn of the community. It’s not going to be easy…” Rocco tells TV WEEK of his return. “But for Richie and Abigail to come back together, he knew he had to learn from his mistakes…”
Will she give him another chance?
