Home and Away fans were heartbroken when Sam Frost announced she was leaving the soap.

After five years of playing Jasmine Delaney, the former Bachelor and Bachelorette darling has revealed she left to take care of her mental wellbeing.

The 32-year-old took to her Believe by Sam Frost Instagram account to explain her choice alongside a picture of a retweet about Ash Barty’s decision to step away from tennis to work on her mental health.

Sam shared the following tweet about tennis champ Ash Barty that resonated with her and her own situation.

“I quit my dream job at Home and Away to look after my mental health. I needed to take a step back, go home and be with my family,” Sam began.

“And most importantly, take good care of my health and well-being. I now spend the days with the people I love, doing the things I’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t because I was too busy working. I spent 4.5 years being a distant friend, a distant girlfriend, a sister who couldn’t be there for big milestone moments. Now, I’m making up for lost time.”

The blonde beauty continued to explain her priorities have changed, and she wants to focus on the more important things in life, which work has taken her attention away from.

“I’m prioritising my health and my relationships. Sometimes I wake up and panic about money, work and being able to afford my mortgage.. but then I remind myself the importance of putting our mental health first, and taking time out to heal our mind, body & soul. The rest will fall into place ✨ #healing.”

Last week, Sam’s former Home and Away co-star Lynne McGranger revealed during an interview with Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa the reason she believed Sam left the show and declared there will always be a place for her.

“She spoke to me, can I just say the door is not closed, it’s very much an open door. Sam needed to be with her family and they are down in Melbourne,” Lynne said.

“There was some issues of course with getting vaccinated but I’m here to tell you she is double vaccinated now, possibly boosted as well. She needed to be with her family, but the door is definitely open for her to come back.

“The way that she is currently gone from the bay, there is plenty of room for her to come back and I’m sure, that as we speak, she is in negotiations with the producers.”

When pressed by the hosts if Sam left because of the vaccine mandate, which was the point of controversy for the star when she revealed in October that she wasn’t vaccinated and had to finish filming early due to Channel Seven’s decision to make vaccinations mandatory.

Although Lynne also confirmed Sam is now vaccinated.

“She missed her family, I can’t speak for Sam, but she really missed her family down in Melbourne, and that’s where she need to be,” Lynne said.

“She’s never made a secret of the fact that she does struggle with her anxiety, that is out there and is a great thing to make public, but she needed to be with her family and the producers being clever and smart and certainly compassionate, said ‘You go and do what you need to do Sam, the door is open for you to come back and we’d love you to come back.”
