Can you believe it’s been 20 years since SeaChange hit our screens? To celebrate, we look back at our favourite characters and what the cast did next!

Daniel “Diver Dan’ Della Boshca (David Wenham)

Daniel “Diver Dan’ Della Boshca, played by David Wenham.

THEN: The quirky redhead was the owner of the local cafe/boatshed and love interest of Pearl Bay newbie Laura (Sigrid Thornton).

But Dan and Laura’s romance didn’t last, mostly because the fisherman couldn’t commit to her busy life. It saw Dan depart for the Galapagos Islands in season two to pursue his one true love: fish.

NOW: David went on to feature in huge Hollywood flicks such as Van Helsing and The Lord Of The Rings – and on TV in Top Of The Lake, Romper Stomper and Wake In Fright.

David played Faramir in blockbuster Lord Of The Rings.

Laura Gibson (Sigrid Thornton)

Sigrid and Shaun Micallef starred in SeaChange as Laura and Warwick, respectively.

THEN: Tenacious city lawyer Laura’s life fell apart when her husband was arrested for fraud and caught cheating with her sister. With her two children in tow, Laura fled to Pearl Bay for a sea change.

Watching her navigate her role as local magistrate and her love life proved highly entertaining. Laura had flings with Diver Dan and court reviewer Warwick (Shaun Micallef), but found love with Max (William McInnes).

NOW: Sigrid won a TV WEEK Silver Logie Award for her role, before appearing in Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door, The Code, Underbelly and Wentworth.

Sigrid is now portraying prison inmate Sonia Stevens in Wentworth.

Karen Miller & Angus Kabiri (Kate Atkinson & Tom Long)

Kate Atkinson and Tom Long starred as Karen Miller and Angus Kabiri.

THEN: “Opposites attract” seemed to be the motto for SeaChange characters’ love lives. As an OCD police officer in Pearl Bay, Karen couldn’t have been more different from her love interest Angus, a laid-back, surfy court clerk.

Their differences fuelled an on-off romance spanning all three seasons before the pair finally tied the knot, much to the relief of fans.

NOW: SeaChange was one of Kate’s first big TV roles and paved the way for appearances in Offspring, Molly and Wentworth. Meanwhile, Tom featured in eccentric Aussie flick The Dish alongside Sam Neill, as well as Joanne Lees: Murder In The Outback.

Tom (second from the left) stars in The Dish.

Kate stars as governor Vera Bennett in Wentworth.

Max Connors (William McInnes)

Max and Laura had a rocky romance.

THEN: After many years away, the foreign correspondent returned to his home town with his terminally ill wife, Elena (Doris Younane). Elena soon passed away, but not before penning a letter asking Laura to take care of her husband.

It didn’t take long for sparks to fly between Max and Laura. Their romance played out through the third season, with lots of ups and downs.

NOW: After SeaChange, William reprised his role in Blue Heelers for several episodes. He was also in East West 101, The Time Of Our Lives and Deep Water.

Bob Jelly (John Howard)

John starred as the mayor of Pearl Bay.

THEN: Known in the small community for his business schemes – often illegal – the mayor of Pearl Bay was notoriously slimy. Things got particularly nasty for Bob when business associate Katrina Fennessy (Alison Whyte) promised to make his dreams of a Pearl Bay bank a reality before making off with the savings of the entire town. Despite the dramatic escapades, Bob never seemed to learn his lesson.

NOW: After his time in SeaChange, John starred in hit drama All Saints and blockbuster film Mad Max: Fury Road.

John starred alongside Sonia Todd in All Saints.
