If you were after a little reprieve from the colossal-sized curve ball that has been 2020, The Crown season four is here to bring you all the blissful viewing pleasure.

Of course, the multi-faceted tumbles and triumphs of 1980s England are forever etched in living memory, what with strikes, the Thatcher era, and particularly chunky mobile phones all being key elements to the decade.

But one would surely have been hiding under a very thick duvet to forget another, rather large element to the dramatic happenings of the time – the lives and loves of the British royals.

With three glorious seasons already under its belt, Netflix’s The Crown has been met with widespread popularity and praise for it’s scarily realistic depiction of the British royal family, and the various dramas and events that have unfolded within it over the years.

The formidable Clare Foy and Matt Smith fronted the helm as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in seasons one and two.

Season three, released in November 2019 (a simpler time, long before social distancing and face masks were the norm) delivered fans a brand new cast to depict the royal family’s slightly older counterparts.

The ever likeable Olivia Colman and Helena Bonham-Carter frankly stole the show as they played out the fascinating narratives belonging to the Monarch and Princess Margaret through the 60s and 70s.

Now, it’s 1980’s time to shine – and with the official release date revealed to be November 15, 2020, you can bet we’re already stocking up on jammy dodgers and prepping the scones ahead of an inevitable onslaught of binge watching.

Netflix released a series of official stills on Tuesday just to get us really excited for whats to come.
